The Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will once again become the stage for international trail running with the third edition of Mallorca by UTMB®, to be held from October 30 to November 1, 2026.
Registrations open on Wednesday, January 14, for runners with a valid UTMB® Index, provided they meet the specific requirements for each distance. From Friday, January 16, runners without a UTMB® Index may register for the CDA – Camins de s’Arxiduc (26 km).
Mallorca by UTMB® is part of the UTMB® World Series, the most prestigious trail running circuit in the world, featuring more than 50 events in iconic natural destinations across all five continents. Its staging represents a strategic opportunity to position Mallorca on the global sports and nature map, strengthening its international profile as a sustainable sports destination.
Mallorca, a unique sporting and natural setting
The Serra de Tramuntana is the heart of the event and a symbol of the historical balance between humans and nature. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it offers an exceptional environment where sport, culture, and landscape blend seamlessly.
Eighty percent of the route follows historic paths and well-established trails, such as the GR-221 or Ruta de Pedra en Sec, an itinerary that represents the soul of the island. Every kilometer of the race conveys history, tradition, and scenic beauty, turning the competition into a deeply immersive experience connected to the essence of Mallorca.
Key figures from Mallorca by UTMB® 2025
The 2025 edition welcomed 2,300 runners from 70 nationalities across four distances: SDT (138 km), CPS (104 km), ETM (56 km), and CDA (26 km). The event mobilized more than 500 volunteers and attracted approximately 6,000 accompanying visitors.
Seventy percent of participants were international, with strong representation from Spain, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Poland, Italy, Belgium, Portugal, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic. Female participation reached 23%, compared to 77% male participants. In addition, more than 60 elite international athletes competed for the final direct qualification spots for the UTMB® World Series Finals in Chamonix.
Positive actions and UTMB® Cares
Mallorca by UTMB® is part of the UTMB® Cares program, the solidarity initiative of the UTMB® World Series aimed at promoting social and environmental actions in host territories. Through initiatives such as Charity Bibs, the event supports social and conservation projects linked to the Serra de Tramuntana.
A sustainable, territory-based project
Mallorca by UTMB® benefits from the institutional support of the Government of the Balearic Islands, the Consell de Mallorca, and the local councils of the municipalities through which the race passes, including Estellencs, Esporles, Selva, Valldemossa, Bunyola, Orient, Alaró, Deià, Sóller, Fornalutx, and Escorca.
The event is co-financed through the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS), reflecting a commitment to a responsible tourism model that respects the environment and aligns with the Government’s deseasonalization strategy. Mountain runners are visitors who value nature, heritage, and local identity, fitting perfectly within this model.
Economic and social impact
Mallorca by UTMB® contributes to tourism deseasonalization by generating economic activity outside the peak season. At the same time, it strengthens Mallorca’s international image as a benchmark destination for mountain, sport, and nature enthusiasts, promoting values of respect, sustainability, well-being, and an active lifestyle.
