M5000 and M5000 Relleus cancelled due to the orange alert activated by the Aemet and the activation of the Special METEOBAL Plan of the Government
• Given the adverse weather conditions forecast for Friday 1st November, the organizers of Mallorca by UTMB®, in coordination with the local authorities, have decided to cancel these two races.
• The rest of the races scheduled for Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd, as well as the SDT, which will start on Friday at 22:00 hours, remain unchanged for the moment.
• The difficulty of the terrain and the weather forecasts urges Mallorca by UTMB® to prioritize the safety of the participants. We regret any inconvenience that this situation may cause.
Mallorca, 31st October 2024. The organization of Mallorca by UTMB®, in coordination with the local authorities, has decided this Thursday to cancel the celebration of the M5000 and the M5000 Relleus races, scheduled for Friday 1st November, due to the declaration of an orange alert by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) and the activation of the Special METEOBAL Plan, in its severity index IG1.
After an exhaustive evaluation of the weather conditions, the Race Direction, following the instructions of the METOBAL plan of the Direcció General d'Emergències e Interior del Govern de les Illes Balears, and taking into account the recommendation of not accessing the mountain as stated by the declaration, has decided to prioritize the safety of all participants, volunteers, support staff and the general public, as the weather forecasts indicate adverse conditions that could put the integrity of those involved at risk.
The organization recommends that participants do not take these routes.
However, those registered for the M5000 and M5000 Relleus will be able to collect their runner's bag at the Ultra-Trail® Village located in the Parc Infante Lois, in Port de Sóller.
The rest of the races remain unchanged for the moment.
For the moment, the rest of the distances remain unchanged, including the SDT.
