Mallorca by UTMB®, another way to discover the island
Beyond its beaches and privileged climate, Mallorca is an island of trails. Between dry-stone walls, mountain villages, and endless views of the sea, the paths of the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, reveal the island’s most authentic essence.
From October 31 to November 2, 2,400 runners from 70 nationalities will traverse these ancient trails during the second edition of Mallorca by UTMB®, an event that establishes the island as an international destination for trail running and sustainable active tourism.
With 70% international participation and four race distances (100M, 100K, 50K, and 20K), the event offers a journey along historic paths, combining sport, nature, and culture in a unique experience. 80% of the course runs through historic trails and established paths, such as the GR-221 or “Ruta de Pedra en Sec,” itineraries that embody the soul of the island.
The event is supported by the Govern de les Illes Balears, the Consell de Mallorca, and local municipalities, and is co-financed through the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS), reinforcing the commitment to responsible and off-season sports tourism.
Commitment to the local community.
Aware of the importance of sporting events in generating positive impacts for society and the environment, UTMB® Iberia, organizer of Mallorca by UTMB®, has put 25 Charity Bibs on sale to support a series of local projects related to solidarity, health, and inclusion.
Through the UTMB® Cares Foundation, local charitable projects will be promoted, such as the agricultural scholarships of the Fundació Social La Sapiència at the Santuari de Lluc, and the “1 KM de Vida” initiative, which will donate funds to the Unoentrecienmil Foundation in support of childhood leukemia research.
In addition, the organization collaborates with Mallorcan entities such as the Cooperativa Agrícola de Sóller, which will provide local products at the aid stations, and Asociación Estel Nou, an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with disabilities and their families in Sóller and other parts of the Balearic Islands, responsible for crafting the trophies by hand.
